1. Call to Apostleship

Biblical Reference: John 1:43-45

Description: Philip was one of the first apostles called by Jesus. After meeting Jesus, Philip found Nathanael (also known as Bartholomew) and told him about Jesus, famously saying, “Come and see.”

Description:  The apostle performed several miracles: the healing of the hand of the city official Aristarchus.

Biblical Reference: John 14:8-9

Description: At the Last Supper, Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father. Jesus replied, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father,” emphasizing the unity of the Father and the Son.

Description: After Pentecost, Philip is believed to have traveled to various regions, including Scythia, Greece, and Phrygia, to spread the Gospel.

Description: According to tradition, St. Philip was martyred in Hierapolis (modern-day Pamukkale, Turkey). He was crucified upside down, and then stoned to death.

Biblical Reference: John 6:5-7

Description: During the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand, Jesus tested Philip by asking him where they could buy bread for the crowd. Philip responded by saying that even a large sum of money wouldn’t be enough to buy bread for everyone
