Biblical Reference: Matthew 4:18-20, Mark 1:16-18, Luke 5:1-11

Description: Peter, originally named Simon, was a fisherman by profession. Jesus called him and his brother Andrew to follow Him, saying, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Jesus.

Biblical Reference: John 20:24-29

Description: After Jesus’ resurrection, He appeared to the apostles, but Thomas was not present. When the others told him they had seen the Lord, he doubted and said he would not believe unless he saw the nail marks and put his hand into Jesus’ side. Eight days later, Jesus appeared again and invited Thomas to touch His wounds. Thomas declared, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus responded, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

He is believed to have established Christian communities in the region of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The St Thomas Christians of Kerala, traces their origins to his missionary work

Description: St. Thomas is believed to have been martyred in India. Tradition holds that he was killed near present-day Chennai (formerly Madras) at St. Thomas Mount. According to these traditions, he was pierced with spears by local soldiers around AD 72. His martyrdom is commemorated by various Christian communities in India and around the world.
